Dermal Fillers – are they the answer to the inevitable ageing process?

Updated: Oct 8, 2020

Firstly, let’s take a look at what your face is made up of. Basically, it’s skin, fat, muscle, and bone and as we get older you lose volume in these areas which brings on the inevitable visible signs of ageing. This is where dermal fillers can help.

What are the things that can happen to the face due to age-related bone loss? Basically, the bone loss can lead to retraction of the jawline, descent of the nose, and loss of high cheekbones. Then to add to this, we have facial muscles decreasing in volume and elasticity; your facial fat deflates, moves and makes the onset of ageing even more visible and to top it off, the skin stretches and loses elasticity. All of these lead to wrinkles, sagging skin and other signs of ageing. It all just seems so unfair that all our key components of the face just conspire against us to make us look old.

All is not lost, here at Contour Couture, we are able to help the signs of ageing with dermal fillers, an injectable treatment performed by our highly qualified aesthetics practitioners, can help smooth lines and replenish lost volume, restoring a more youthful appearance.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

Hyaluronic Acid (which you might find hiding on the labels of some of your skincare products as HA), is naturally occurring in the human body. The substance works as a magnet for moisture, helping your cells retain as much of it as possible so that your skin feels and appears hydrated, plump and healthy.

Dermal fillers work by boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid; dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. They can address a number of common concerns including smoothing of deep under-eye circles, lifting of cheekbones, plumping of the lips, smoothing of lip lines and nasolabial folds (the creases that run from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth), and rejuvenation of the hands. Typically, Dermal filler injections provide instant results and can last for around 6 to 9 months. Dermal filler injections can give a natural-looking result that does not affect facial expression. As your face changes over time, dermal fillers allow you to control you looks subtly as you age.

Dermal fillers injections are a popular cosmetic treatment that help combat signs of aging by restoring volume and smoothness to the skin. These injections can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin, making the face look more youthful and refreshed. By stimulating collagen production and filling in lost volume, dermal fillers provide a non-surgical solution to aging skin concerns.
